Helicopter makes precautionary landing
ALOR STAR: A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Aloutte helicopter made a precautionary landing on a padi field in Kampung Petani near Langgar, about 15km from here.
RMAF public relations officer Mejar Roslan Salam said the pilot landed the helicopter yesterday after feeling that there was something wrong with the aircraft.
“The helicopter landed safely. Our technicians have been sent to inspect it,” he said, adding that the pilot was on a solo training flight from the RMAF College in Kepala Batas.
On Jan 25, an Aloutte helicopter made an emergency landing at the college’s air base while on a training session. The aircraft was slightly damaged in the incident.
In yesterday’s incident, local villagers said the helicopter tried to take off several times after the landing at 10am, but landed again after failing to gain altitude.
