Many drawn to Hindu temple’s interfaith trait
A Hindu temple in Seremban has attracted local and foreign tourists for having statues of Buddha, Kuan Yin and Jesus on its altars, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.
The daily said that each year the temple management would also hold celebrations on major religious festivals such as Wesak Day and Christmas.
The daily reported that the 13-year-old temple was now a tourist spot, attracting many people from Singapore and Thailand.
It said the temple management also had plans to beautify it further to attract more visitors.
Sin Chew Daily quoted International Maritime Bureau Piracy Reporting Centre regional head Noel Choong as saying that the pirate activities in the Straits of Malacca had nothing to do with terrorism.
He said the pirates usually did not hurt the crew but they would kidnap the captain and the chief engineer for ransom.
Choong also told the daily that pirates were now targeting ships carrying petroleum.
The daily also reported that
SM St Paul students in Seremban, who re-sat their STPM Biology Paper Two, achieved a 93.8% pass rate.
State Education Department director Datuk Rohani Shariff was quoted by the daily as saying that the pass rate was better that the 83.3% recorded in 2003.
He said 97 students of the school re-sat the paper last year after a leak in the exam paper.
