Siti and Ning lead the pack in AIM Awards
KUALA LUMPUR: Pop divas Siti Nurhaliza and Ning Baizura lead the way in the run-up to this year's Anugerah Industri Malaysia (AIM) Awards.
With the nominations for the annual music awards announced at a hotel here yesterday, pop princess Siti Nurhaliza’s albums Prasasti Seni and Siti Nurhaliza Live in Concert 2004, garnered eight nominations, including for the song-of-the-year category with composer Aidit Alfian, best pop album, best vocal performance in an album (female) and best musical arrangement in a song.

Not to be outdone, veteran singer Zainal Abidin’s album Puteri garnered four nominations, including nods for best pop rock album of the year, best vocal performance in an album (male) and best musical arrangement in a song.
Pop singer Misha Omar and up-and-coming vocalist Juwita Suwito also received four nominations each, as did pop rock band Spider.
There were also multiple nominations for veteran stars Anita Sarawak and Noraniza Idris, Akademi Fantasia (I) winner Vince Chong, nasyid groups Raihan and Rabbani, and ethnic pop artiste Waheeda.
Some 485 entries were received from 38 record companies in all.
The awards will take place on April 30 at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur and will be broadcast live on Ntv 7.
