All schools can access Internet by 2010
SUNGAI PETANI: All the 10,000 schools in the country are expected to have Internet access by 2010.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim said that currently 80% to 90% of schools had computer laboratories and 87 schools nationwide had been upgraded to smart schools.
He said the Education Ministry hoped to have all schools completely wired and turned into smart schools under the Ninth Malaysia Plan. .
He also said the ministry had set aside allocation for computer laboratories to be set up at all schools under the plan or by 2010.
We want the whole education system to move towards the ICT trend and for all schools to have computer laboratories.
We also want students and teachers to be able to gain access to the Net where they can source for information and communicate promptly and efficiently via e-mail, he said when opening the Kedah/Perlis States Headmasters Union AGM at a hotel here yesterday.
