LONDON: Siti Nurhaliza is poised to break into the international music scene following her successful performance at the Royal Albert Hall here.

The pop princess may get to perform at a United Nations-sponsored concert in October as well as receive an invitation for another show at the hall.

According to concert executive chairman Ahmad Fadzli Yaakob, he had held preliminary discussions with some officials who were impressed with Siti after Friday’s concert.

Siti, accompanied by the Yayasan Warisan Johor dancers, wowing her fans during her concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Friday.
“They had expressed interest for Siti to represent Malaysia, along with other performers, for the UN concert in Britain,” he told Malaysian journalists after the concert.

Fadzli said the hall’s chief executive David Elliott, who sat next to him during the show, was hopeful of Siti giving another show there.

Fadzli added that Siti had been interviewed by BBC’s world women radio programme as well as BBC world TV news.

“Three BBC radio stations have hailed her as Malaysia’s Celine Dion, which is an honour for her,” he said.

Siti, who expressed satisfaction with the concert, said she would consider any offer to perform at the international arena.

“I am happy that I’ve finally achieved my dream of staging a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, on my 10th music anniversary,” she said.

Elliott said he hoped to introduce music and concert promoters to Siti to help her break into the UK market.

“She has a fantastic voice and personality coupled with good stage presentation,” he said.

He added that she should do more cover albums familiar with the overseas audience to further establish herself.

Among those who attended the concert were 26 Malaysians who were rewarded with the trip after winning the SMS-ERA Siti Nurhaliza Contest.

“We’re proud of Siti. We will sink or swim with her,” said teacher Noor Sinaran Chaya as she and her friends displayed the Jalur Gemilang and banner.

Americans Barbie Cullen and Rita Iwanski, from Florida, also watched the concert after they were introduced to Siti’s songs by their Malaysian friends.

“Yes, she has Celine’s style as we have seen her in Las Vegas. But Siti is good. She can do well in the United States,” said Cullen.

Malaysian Raj Mohan and his friend Kripodi Daniela from Florence, Italy, found the concert fantastic.

“This is the first time we’ve seen her perform. she’s good. She will go far,” he said.

Education agent Christopher Mccabe and his Russian friend, Helen Kravchemko, said the concert was amazing.

Former TV3 newscaster Ras Adiba Radzi said she flew here specially to support a fellow Malaysian.

“I’m proud of Siti so that’s why I am here to watch her concert,” she added.
