Construction site accident leaves 7 dead in China
BEIJING (AP) - A large lighting structure collapsed at a construction site in central China, killing at least seven workers, state media said Friday.
The collapse occurred Thursday afternoon at a work site in Henan province's Zhengzhou city, trapping dozens under the fallen structure, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
Rescuers managed to pull out 22 people, but five of the rescued workers died later. Two bodies also were recovered from the debris, it said.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
Last month, a bridge collapse in southern China killed 64 workers.
